Why the Base Stayed Home.

Many pundits will tell the American people, especially Missourians, that this is a mandate for Republicans. That well meaning citizen put the same people back into power that caused the worst economic downturn in the last 70 years. In 2008, Obama won Boone county and barely lost Missouri. However in 2010 Ed Robb, a Republican, won the presiding commissioner of Boone county and most Democrats around the state lost their races. What happen to all the progressives? What happened to all the Democrats? Where were the activists?

They were left behind.

In 2006 and 2008, Howard Dean led a resurgent progressive movement to take back the congress and the presidency. These grassroots activists canvassed, phoned, and organized for their favorite candidate. Unfortunately once these Democrats were elected, they abandoned their base by running to the center. When these same people who put their time and money wanted their agenda pushed forward and had the nerve to speak out, they were met with words like f$%^ing retard and accused of being the "professional left" by Obama's chief of staff Rahm Emanuel and press secretary Robert Gibbs.

If Democratic office holders keep running away from their base to try to appear Republican, they will continue to lose. Robin Carnahan lost many progressive when she decided to continue the "Bush" tax cuts despite big deficits and cut in services. They personally told me that they would not work on her campaign and they have had it with Democrats that try to appear conservative
while universal health care access still alludes our citizen, war is still being waged, and big money rules the political system.

A warning to Jay Nixon, Senator McCaskill, et. al. You all need to inspire your base and start acting like real Democrats. Do not think you can win if your base stays home and/or sits on their hands.
